A person who laced candy with sleeping medication and distributed them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two boys who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in July.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant played a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel explained items including infant oil, Vaseline and medical needles were found, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She explained the defendant continued to conduct the "candy game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"The police had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was examining the police response of the events.
The prosecutor stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the police once more.
She explained the man then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
